The Karate Kid * * * 1/2 : Full on Masala movie :)

.
The Karate Kid (this is a remake of a 1980's classic) is a story about 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) who lands up in China  where he falls for his classmate Mei. Soon Dre's life gets worse when one of his class mates starts bulling him, now it was time for Dre to learn Kung-fu, face the bullies and win over his fear.

The movie is all about Jaden Smith, I loved his 'never give up' attitude and his enthusiasm. One can see glimpses of Will Smith in him. And of course there is Jackie Chan teaching  him that Kung-fu is not about punches but about maturity and focus. Even Taraji P. Henson (Dre's mom) has given a good support.

After watching this movie I could remember a typical Bollywood Masala movie with mix of everything; action, comedy, romance and emotion. This weekend give yourself treat of Kung-fu, watch The Karate Kid.. you would njoy.
I would give 3 stars for this movie and a half star extra for the acting, so in total 3 and half stars.

Rajneeti * * 1/2 : Decent movie

Finally I watched it! Abhishek was more very eager to watch it then me And I had heard its a good movie.
About the movie, I felt Ranbir, Arjun and Manoj had well defined roles and a chance to showcase their talent. It was good to see Manoj after a long time on the Big Screen. Ranbir's character had lot of grey shades in it. About Katrina Kaif, she is watchable but I personally believe she still needs to learn and improve.
After watching the movie I remember the dialog ' don't take personally , I killed your father .. it was pure business' of movie 'Godfather'...
I have come more closer to understand Indian politics. The people out there not just have competition with other parties but also within themselves. People in politics really can do anything to achieve that status....

In short, I give two and half stars for this movie. A decent movie with a good plot and performances become  quite predictable towards end. If you want to a serious movie, its worth a watch.
